My students come from diverse backgrounds and cultures, from high financial need to those who are not in need. My school doesn't qualify for Title I services even though a percentage of my students qualify for some financial assistance. I teach in a suburban school in Texas. My students are very excited learners who are willing to jump in and learn new things.
I teach in a relatively new school with a beautiful environment for learning, but my students are interested in what is out there and what they will be using when they leave the classroom.
Therefore, I want to encourage STEM careers and learning excitement through cooperative work environments.
I also want to help raise and educate my students in their personal financial literacy building on a classroom economy. I am educating our future leaders, workers and professionals and want to give them every advantage. Help me to make them successful mathematicians and scientists!
My Project
My students need to become learners of engineering with materials that allow for the use of creative critical thinking materials. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. They are eager to learn and gain as much as they can from those around them.
My students are enthralled when they try new ideas already taught or new standards being introduced to make the real world come to life.
Our school is fully engaged in the STEM program and is infusing art in our curriculum as well to become a STEAM school. We are continuing to form connections while encouraging students to share their new knowledge across disciplines. My students will become critical thinkers and problem solvers and gain a sense of creativity as they discover, engineer, plan, and use the Magna-Tiles at the Building Learning Center during our daily rotations.
