The school I work at is small district and is a low-income school. Many of the children that come to my classroom each day are entering the room and using it as a safe haven to get away from life outside of school.
My students this year love being challenged and are always looking for new and exciting ways to learn.
As a teacher I always feel responsible for each child that is with me everyday. In our classroom we understand that we are a family and we know that our time spent together is precious so we always take advantage of every moment. I love being able to reach each child in their own individual way and watching their creativity come to life when they are learning and excited about it. At our school we make sure we take care of each other and my hope is that my students will transfer this to the outside world as well.
My Project
I am requesting a magnetic whiteboard to replace the chalkboard in my classroom. A magnetic whiteboard taking the place of the old chalkboard in my classroom will allow my students to use the hands on magnetic math place value blocks, the magnetic clocks for telling time, magnetic interactive science kits and other center activities efficiently.
If my students have this white board they will be able to come up and move manipulatives around and demonstrate their learning and understanding to their classmates and myself.
The whiteboard will allow students in the classroom that have problems with texture to not have to use chalk as their writing source. The whiteboard will also eliminate the dust from chalkboards which for some students causes coughing and allergy problems. A magnetic whiteboard helps with not only hands on learning but it is also a great way for students and teacher to work together. The students will all have their own individual whiteboards to work on and follow along with the teacher while she is working on the class whiteboard. I feel it is a very beneficial piece of furniture that no classroom should be without.
