My students need a magnetic white board so they can share their work and magnetically hang projects for all to see and discuss.

My Students

Every morning the children come to class ready to share the amazing work that they have completed with their peers. We have a challenge, however. How can we display the work for everyone to see in the front of the room? A magnetic dry erase board that is large enough to show the work is needed!

I teach in a New York City public school in the borough of Queens.

My students are in first grade and we have the wonderful advantage of serving an international community. Our students speak many languages and represent many cultures. They enrich us all with this diversity. The parents are very excited to have their children in our school and their high expectations are part of our students' motivation to excel. With those expectations, we have to make sure we give these enthusiastic learners the best resources so that they will be on par with the best students they meet in the future. Academic success with our new and developing Common Core Curriculum is unquestionably a goal but to achieve it we need the very best for these children.

My Project

A large dry erase magnetic board would go far towards changing our learning landscape. We want the children to present their work to their peers. It is also very important to foster a collaborative environment that will enhance the children's self esteem. This dry erase magnetic board will allow the children to display work they have created both in school in small groups and at home. Every content area will be enhanced by this simple but powerful learning tool. When students have an opportunity to shine with simple classroom resources, it benefits everyone. Just think of the classroom celebrations we can hold in which we invite parents to see their children present projects! When parents know their children are actively engaged in learning, they potentially become more involved in our school. Nothing succeeds like success and this magnetic dry erase board will contribute considerably to achieving that success.

Without this large magnetic dry erase board we are limited to how we can share in class.

The whole day can be changed by a resource and its use in class. The students can also work independently without their displays falling, thanks to the magnetic feature of this board. What a different day this board would give the class, and what a positive contribution it would be. We hope supporters will agree to support this project.
