Help me give my students the gift and ability to learn to read Spanish by creating a classroom library. The RE940X Spanish Picture Book Read Along Set 1 will be a fantastic start.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The students at Slater Elementary are part of a diverse community that receive an education in a positive atmosphere that will nurture their social and emotional well-being and encourage their academic achievements. A vast majority of our students come from low income families and are faced with daily social, economical and physical challenges that can diminish their opportunities for academic success.
The children are eager to learn and be prepared with 21st century skills including proficiency in Spanish.
I want to create a Spanish classroom library for my students to have a quick and easy access to reading material. Books are a great way to introduce and reinforce new topics and to create cultural awareness.
A classroom library will provide the students opportunities to have hands on learning and have visual support to bring Spanish to life.
The pupils will increase their language proficiency (listening, reading, writing, speaking and vocabulary). A classroom library will allow me to create assignments where students work in a collaborative manner. For example, one student can read to another student, role playing, learning new songs and chants.
Students will have the opportunity to check out books and take them home to read and practice Spanish. I will create activities where caregivers and family members can be involved and engage with the children. I will be able to send home a bilingual book where the text in Spanish and English are side by side and students and parents can take turns reading.
As we are still in a virtual setting, books can be sent home upon request. I will add to my classroom page a section for students to check in books. Slater Elementary distributes every Friday school material for their students.
Please consider donating to this project to help my students become successful Spanish learners.
