My Students
In my classroom, mathematics becomes fun, exciting and engaging. Whether we are involved in a classroom breakout, battling each other in life-sized algebraic battleship or working on our catapults to find their parabolic equation, my students are growing in their mathematical thinking and developing into resilient, deeper learners.
I teach in a K-12 urban, self-directed school that pulls students from across the district.
My students come to me with a variety of experiences and abilities but are united in the unwavering enthusiasm and desire to learn. My goal is to inspire them to see that mathematics is more than just computation, it is about the connections we can make in our world.
My Project
As part of my school's self-directed focus, we incorporate Project Based Learning into our classrooms. This allows our students to learn essential standards while providing them voice and choice in the classroom. A useful component of PBL's is the access to technology. Two Chromebooks will allow my students to create dazzling projects and aid in their research.
My students build catapults to study parabolic equations and the addition of two Chromebooks will allow them to research and evaluate possible designs.
To better understand systems of equations, they design their own products, create business plans and present them to local small business owners and need to be able to create spreadsheets, drawing and interactive presentations. The addition of two Chromebooks will help in these endeavors.
