My Students

“Go down deep enough into anything and you will find mathematics.” ~Dean Schlicter As you think about math isn't that quote so true. Math is such a necessary skill in the world around us. My students need to discover math in different ways other than paper and pencil.

I have a class of 17 kindergarten students and there are 55 other students that I see on day to day basis for interventions.

Our school is an urban school teaching children kindergarten through sixth grade in a low income area. They love school and love to learn! There is not enough money in the budget this year to obtain hands-on materials and stations for math.

My Project

My students are eager to learn and to explore different things in math. These students are scoring in the 90% on their math test and need more challenging activities to keep them motivated. They enjoy math greatly and love being able to explore and discover new things about math daily. In fact the other day, they were working on weighing things and one student went home and came back telling me about how a book is heavier than a magnet. Through your donations, you will provide a scale for them to weigh more things, a station for students to be able to measure real world objects, geoboards to make shapes, and hands-on math counting stations. These students are taking their math activities home and creating their own math experiences with their family wouldn't it be great to be a part of these math experiences.

This project is so important to me because my students need to be encouraged and motivated to bring math into everything that they do.

With your donations, my students will be able to manipulate, explore and discover counting, adding and shapes in a whole new way. Thanks for all your support ahead of time and thanks for caring about students.
