The students in my Pre-K classroom are active eager learners ranging from ages two to three years old, who have developmental delays in one or more areas of their development. I want my students to have what they need to enhance their over all development as they grow. The students are all amazing in their own ways! I cannot say enough how much I absolutely love going to work everyday BECAUSE OF THESE CHILDREN! My students all have families that do their best to provide their child with a wonderful life. My main goal for my students is INDEPENDENCE! I want each and every student that I teach to become independent not only academically, but also personally, socially, and emotionally. My students are my WHY in life. These students are excited and eager to explore the world around them.
My students need a magic carpet and writing boards that will take them on a journey while learning. Students love to meet on the rug to learn. We use a rug area throughout the day for all of our subject areas. Most of our learning takes place on the rug. When using a rug in the classroom, student engagement and performance increases. Students are able to stay focused on the topic without having to sit at a desk all day. My students also use the rug during group time to work with peers and also during individual belly/play time. Our PT also uses the rug to provide support and services to our students.By using a rug in the classroom not only is it developmentally appropriate but calming to the students by creating a more home like environment, while softening the sounds of a busy classroom. The writing boards would provided a magic way to learning basic writing skills, without the need for paper....allowing them to create again and again.
