This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the privilege of teaching six amazing students in grades K-2. They are sweet, energetic and full of wonder. All of my students have communicative disorders and deficits in social as well as cognitive domains. As one of their first learning experiences I strive to create an environment that is safe, fun and engaging.
It is inspiring to see these students reach milestones that one might take for granted.
With the right support, the sky is the limit for my students!
My Project
Students learn best when they use activities that are engaging and utilize hands on manipulatives. In particular my students need help with their gross and fine motor skills as well as pre-academic skills. These skills are important not only to help with hand/ eye coordination but to prepare children to do more complex skills later on in life such as writing. The manipulatives will focus on other important skills such as learning about matching, colors, shapes and counting as well. In addition they will help with literacy concepts. Having and using these manipulatives will help my students achieve those goals.
