My Project

As I enter my 19th year as a career educator, what I love most about my 7th-grade students is their raw, untapped curiosity. I come from a deep family legacy of education—my grandfather, the late Dr. Thomas F. Freeman, taught for 70 years and changed lives by demanding excellence through quiet kindness. I see that exact same potential in every student who walks through my door. They are capable of incredibly deep, critical thought when given the right tools, and they crave lessons that actually mean something to their daily lives. My 7th graders do not just want to be told how the world works; they want to see it, touch it, and discover it for themselves.

Too often, middle school science is taught in a vacuum—relying on flat, 2D textbook images that fail to capture the true wonder of the natural world.

I want my students to see that science is vibrant, real, and connected to them.

To do this, I am requesting 3D body system models and handheld microscopes for our classroom. Instead of just looking at a drawing of a cell or an organ, these materials will allow my students to physically hold the human body systems in their hands and zoom in on the microscopic world around them. These tools will bridge the gap between abstract concepts and concrete understanding.

These durable materials will remain in my classroom for years to come, impacting hundreds of local students. By bringing these models and microscopes into our room, you are helping me prove to them that science isn't just facts on a page. I don't want them to just learn science—I want them to LIVE SCIENCE!
