This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

In 2023 I introduced the Library Lunch and Learn program to my high school students. Coming from an elementary background, I was afraid these students might think the program was too juvenile. Boy, was I wrong!

It's so much fun to see a Senior making a Spiderman out of Perler beads, or looking forward to coming to the library to work on a diamond art project!

These students look forward to the time they spend in the library, and it makes the school day less stressful for them. They can simply relax and be kids, which is why the program was created.

Having this time with students has helped create an environment of teamwork, and created a much better climate for their school day. I went from having 5 students each day to having 40 this year. My goal is to make it even bigger next year. Big goals need a bigger stock of supplies, though, and ours are almost gone.

I hope you'll consider making a donation to our project so our activity time can continue. Being a small, rural school means I don't have a budget. This program is important to me and our students, so I hope you'll help us out.
