My students this year are an energetic bunch of second graders. They attend a public school in a small, rural town in the Arkansas Delta, a high-poverty region. Money is tight for the school and the families whose children attend. Funding for field trips and extra resources are not available, and many of our students have never had experiences outside their small community.
