My Project

My classroom is a mixture of diverse, multilingual, and socioeconomically disadvantaged students in a Title 1 school.

This project would provide my class with Lunar New Year themed literature, lucky red envelopes and related crafts and decorations to celebrate and educate my students about this Lunar New Year.

Books of representation as Mirrors, Windows, and Sliding Glass Doors (Bishop) truly impact our students in a variety of different ways. Books have a powerful way of reaching our students as mentor texts. These books will provide multiple opportunities for students to see themselves, to learn valuable lessons, and to just enjoy. Books are a powerful way of connecting students to the world in a way that brings up powerful discussions, creativity, and so much more.
