This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a culturally diverse, high-poverty Title I population. Ninety-two percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. All of our teachers believe that every single one of our students has the ability to learn and wants to be successful. Because of our beliefs we have been an A+ rated school for 3 years in a row!

Our students are extremely motivated to learn about the world and express themselves any way they can!

Students at our school yearn for a creative outlet and love the music, art, and physical education programs that our school has to offer. Despite their interest, many of our students lack the resources to participate in extracurricular activities outside of school and greatly appreciate any form of self-expression we can provide.

My Project

This project is a sister project to Magnificent Mouthpieces! In addition to upgrading the mouthpieces on our tenor saxophones, we also need new ligatures to replace our old metal ligatures that are falling apart or starting to warp.

Rovner Ligatures are perfect for beginning single reed players!

They have a simple design that is flexible and durable for young band students. We already have Rovner ligatures for all of our soprano clarinets, bass clarinets, alto saxophones, and baritone saxophones. With this project our entire collection of single reed instruments will have upgraded ligatures and our students can make better sounds!
