This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend an urban public school in Oklahoma that serves grades 7-12. Eighty-five percent of our students receive a free or reduced-price lunch. My students are lower middle class and more are in single-parent homes or live with grandparents. Many of our students will be first-generation high school graduates. Our students excel in sports and I want to make it a good experience for them.
Though many of them have not grown up playing baseball, they are excited about the opportunity to play this school year.
We have a zero budget and need basic supplies that allow us to practice outside; with no batting cage or indoor facility, we have to use our imagination to keep up with other schools.
My Project
We are in a unique position to have one of our catchers be left-handed! Although this is not common,
we need a left-handed catcher's mitt for a unique athlete.
In addition, I am asking for more practice baseballs, which will allow multiple drills with multiple athletes moving and practicing drills at the same time. In this way, every player can be working and practicing in a time-efficient manner.
We want a time-efficient practice, with no player standing more than 30 seconds between repetitions. Thank you so very much in advance.
