My Students
I work at a low-income school with first-grade students who are struggling with reading. I work with these students in an individual or small group setting to help them feel confident in their abilities and help them reach grade-level benchmarks by the end of the year.
My students grow to enjoy reading when they have books that spark their interests and are written at a level that will make them be successful. My students can't wait to show their families what they have learned.
My Project
The desire to read comes from interest and feeling confident in your ability to do something well. The books I have selected will help my students read successfully as well as increase their text levels within a short period of time.
Providing students with books at their reading level and that interest them will help my students to become life-long readers.
These books cover interests in Minecraft, sports, unicorns, dinosaurs, and Dr. Suess just to name a few. My classroom library does not include any of these topics at this time. These books will help me update my classroom library and really get kids excited to read.
