Loving Stitches

My students need bright cheerful fabric to apply newly learned sewing skills to make 75 pillowcases that will be given to terminally ill children in the hospital.

My Students

Imagine middle school students using math, literacy skills, problem solving and beginning sewing skills to help others in need. Fabric is needed to reach our goal of sewing 75 pillowcases for terminally ill children during their hospital stay.

One hundred energetic and caring eighth grade students learn how to operate the sewing machine during their Family and Consumer Sciences Course.

These kind and caring students are ready to make a difference in the lives of very ill children and hope to brighten their stay in the hospital with cheerful handcrafted pillowcases.

My Project

My students need bright and cheerful fabric to apply newly learned sewing skills into our service project. In order to accomplish our goal to brighten the lives of 75 terminally ill children, we need fabric to help make our project a reality. Almost everyone can make personal connections to someone they know that is battling cancer. This project has great relevance and the ability to impact many individuals. The students will not only learn how to sew, they will also become more compassionate and caring individuals. The students will use their time and talents to make pillowcases that will brighten the hospital rooms for 75 children battling for their lives. Middle school students have a tendency to be self-centered. These resources will help the students feel compassion and caring towards others. Through helping others, the students will have improved self-esteem and experience the feeling of success in completing the project and helping others in need.

Help my middle school students make an impact on terminally ill children through our Loving Stitches Project.

The students need fabric to sew 75 cheerful pillowcases for terminally ill children. Most students have been impacted by cancer and want to help brighten the hospital stay for other children that are facing very challenging health issues. Help make this project a reality and help children fight cancer.
