My Students

My students come from all over the world and speak multiple languages! I have students in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Several of my students are refugees and are attending school for the first time in their life.

I fell in love with these students, and I am amazed at their perseverance.

I have had the privilege of working with some of the hardest working students and families that I have ever met. I am so blessed to be in a country where so many different types of people come together to learn. We learn so much from each other every day and I am so thankful for the opportunity to bring learning alive for them.

My Project

All of these books have been picked to help me teach my students with nonfiction and narrative books. My students struggle with comprehending and thinking about narrative and nonfiction texts. These books will help me break down strategies for my students to help them understand what they are reading. We will be able to make text to self and text to self-connections that help us better understand the world that we live. Narratives are especially difficult to teach to students because they can be dry and boring. These books that I have chosen are entertaining and will help hook my students into different types of books. In order for students to be successful they need to be able to read a variety of texts and this is definitely where my students are the weakest.
