This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in an extremely diverse and unique city, my students come from extremely diverse and unique backgrounds. In this, they enter my classroom with a variety of needs and strengths. My hope is to provide for them a quality and holistic education, regardless of their background or circumstances. I strive to create the most effective lessons inside a safe environment that fosters their academic, social, and emotional needs.

My students are empathetic, loving, curious, and creative kindergartners.

We work hard every single day. We are working on all sorts of skills! Most of my students are learning english as their second or third language! It is incredible to watch their language acquisition and to see how quickly they are growing. I feel so lucky to be learning with them!

My Project

Literacy centers are designed to provide appropriate materials to help students work independently or collaboratively (with partners or in small groups) to meet literacy goals. The integration of literacy centers can support improvement in reading comprehension, language, social, and writing development. Effective literacy centers allow for student choice, have explicit and ongoing routines. They promote student collaboration, facilitate student motivation, and provide targeted practice for students.

Your donation would help me to ​effectively create Literacy Centers for my students so they can receive the targeted instruction that is needed for improvement in their reading and writing development.

My students will benefit greatly from this donation because it will give them the opportunity to engage in different activities that they are interested in to support and enhance their literacy skills.
