Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When a student thinks about school and the environment they are in when they are learning, it is important as a teacher that my students feel excited, cared for, and loved. My project is seeking support for materials to help students with hunger, reaching academic skills, and building relationships within the classroom!

The first item on my list is a rechargeable battery system, which I will use in order to help students with their reading fluency practice!

My students use timers when reading so they can time themselves during practice. Instead of needing to purchase batteries over and over again, the rechargeable plug will give us an opportunity to reuse batteries in the classroom for these tools! The next item I have listed is polaroid film. We have a classroom camera, that we use to capture the moment with learning and creating bonds in our classroom! We take pictures to hang up and use for projects for our pen pals and parents! The film allows us to continue capturing the memories we are making in third grade this year. The other items I have listed are games that will not only build relationships, help students with the reading skills, but will be used as rewards for positive behaviors in the classroom! It is important to highlight positive behavior and choices in the classroom. Students love having time to play with their friends and have time to get to know each other through games, and it also teaches them a valuable lesson on be responsible! The games listed are: Monopoly, Chess, Checkers, Tic-Tac-Toe, Clue, Telestrations, Candy Land, Life, Scategories, Mexican Train Dominoes, Operation, Scrabble, What Do You Meme, Battleship, and last but not least, Mancala. These games help students practice reading skills, math skills, sequence, working together and working in teams!
