Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am blessed to call myself a teacher in the city of Brotherly Love; also known as Philadelphia, PA. The culture is filled with infectious personalities, positive movements, and endless opportunities. As a teacher, I am responsible for promoting strong self-esteems that inspire a love for learning in my students.
Every student deserves the opportunity to a meaningful, interactive education that will steer their journey on a successful path.
In order to accomplish these great heights, sometimes that requires help.
My Project
All of the projects I chose have a specific meaning and are targeted for different types of learning. One of my main goals this year is to create a learning environment based off the students feeling a sense of "home" in the classroom. I have select a few flexible seating chairs that will be usually primarily for small groups during guided reading. Guided Reading is one of the most important and structured parts of the ELA block everyday. While reading can be difficult to many students, especially my new class where 90% are below level, I wanted to spruce the vibe up by engaging the students with fun seating. It is my hope the students are excited to come back to the table daily and work on their reading and phonics skills. These chairs will also be accessible in my "Calm Down Corner," where students may be given the opportunity to take breaks as needed.
If one is able to provide an effective, meaningful experience for students, you open the doors to endless learning opportunities.
The other supplies in my cart as also being used in my C.D.C. or Calm Down Corner. These toys and activities will be provided to students during times of high stress to allow the student to debrief and take a minute to collect themselves. All of the items in my cart have particularly been selected in fostering the mind, body, and soul of my Future First Graders!
