I haven't met my students yet, but I know that all children deserve a print-rich environment. I want to build a classroom library that will meet the needs of readers with a variety of interests and reading levels.
To become better readers, students need to read.
I want to have an extensive classroom library that reflects the diversity in our classroom. A wide variety of genres, authors, and subjects will allow my students to choose their books based on their interests as well as expose them to books they may not discover on their own.
My Project
All children deserve access to books and reading. Help me provide books for my students.
"Research clearly demonstrates that a robust, high-quality classroom library impacts student achievement.
Students who have access to an extensive, exemplary classroom library read more, read more widely for a variety of purposes, demonstrate more positive attitudes toward reading, and score higher on standardized tests of reading achievement. In this way, students are more likely to achieve the goals of college and career readiness."

These books will be part of our classroom library for students to independently read as well as for me to use during guided reading and read alouds. They will support students' learning of understanding character traits and perspective, themes, and building connections across various texts.
