The hands-on materials helped students visualize ideas that can sometimes feel abstract (addition), leading to deeper discussions and stronger understanding.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were eager to use them. Many students asked if they could begin working with them right away. Their enthusiasm was wonderful to see, and it created a positive energy that carried throughout the lesson.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using these resources to strengthen their mathematical reasoning, collaborate with classmates, and tackle more challenging real-world problems. Our next steps include applying these skills to multi-step projects that require critical thinking, data analysis, and mathematical communication. Students use laminated sorting cards, matching games, or number line activities.
