This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are curious, resilient mathematicians who deserve the best tools! Many items on my list are colorful, as the use of colors in my math classroom is essential!

I teach my students to use colors to make distinctions to help them better understand essential concepts; for example: using two distinct colors to add and subtract positive and negative numbers on a number line is an extremely helpful entry point for students to start to grasp and begin to understand this abstract concept.

We use colors to draw number lines in our notebooks before we advance to rote practice using our whiteboards and dry-erase markers.
