My Project

Far too often in math, the teacher shows, then the students do. I have created a classroom in which students think and figure out mathematics on their own with teacher facilitation.

My classroom encourages students to think for themselves as opposed to mimicking.

I am following the principles of the book, "Building Thinking Classrooms" in which studies have shown that students think better when in randomized groups, standing and working with tools that allow them to erase.

As we enter year three in the fall, some of my supplies need to be replenished. Students need a continuous supply of markers and command grippers hold the markers next to the white boards. Also, we can never have too many pencils for Check Your Understanding Work and Quizzes.
