Looking Snazzy

Help me give my students jackets to show their team spirit for Special Olympics. These jackets will be an addition to our current uniforms. The students can wear these to events to publicize and support Special Olympics.

My Students

My students are all nonverbal but have the communication skills through facial expressions. They love to be active and participate in a variety of activities throughout each day. Each of them has something to give to others. They just do it in a different way than the rest of us. I have some students who require wheelchairs, some who require a one on one person to assist throughout the entire day, some who are capable of being independent through most of the day, some who need feeding and toileting assistance and others who can do it on their own. It is a melting pot of abilities in my classroom.

We are all more alike than we are different.

My students love pizza, hamburgers, fries. They also love to socialize with their friends in and out of the classroom. These few simple things make them just like the rest of us. But, they sometimes have difficulty in expressing their likes and dislikes and wants and needs.

My Project

These jackets will enhance our current Special Olympics uniforms. We want our students to be prepared in all aspects and ready to compete. Having team jackets will boost the spirit amongst our team. Our current uniforms don't have jackets and many times we are competing in the elements and need more protection than a hoodie.

Boosting team spirit and looking snazzy!!

When we go to events, everyone will know that we are together as one team.

This is just a start to building our new team here at our school. We want our team members to have the same opportunities as the rest of the teams here at school.
