Students love this project. Having hands on, fun projects makes learning exciting and give students something to look forward. We use cyanotype in my photography, digital art I and digital art II classes and learn new techniques in each class. \r\n\r\nIn digital art I they use adobe illustrator to create stencils. There stencils are then cut out using the circuit machine. The stencils are places on the cyanotype and the printed in the sun. For photography, the create a negative using Lightroom. The negative is printed on a transparency and then exposed to the sun for the cyanotype print. My students have created so many amazing things with these supplies. Every time a students finds out that we have polymer clay, their faces light up and they immediately list off the ideas they have that could incorporate polymer clay. I have seen tiny food creations, creatures, and plants. We have acquired a couple of silicon fondant molds, and students can custom create bricks and tile and wood planks. We have enjoyed the variety of colors, and even learned how to create new colors by mixing pastel dust into the clay. \r\nOne student was building a tiny Ancient Roman villa, and used polymer clay for food items, like a roasted pig and vegetables, and other decorations like family statuary. Another student made an old farmhouse and used the clay for pots and pans and a backsplash in the kitchen. Yet another student created a creepy dungeon with a monster, and used the clay to slowly build up the creature, and even sculpted the wooden planks that made up the floor.\r\nIt feels like the possibilities are endless with polymer clay, and we all continue to think of new ways to use it in our art.
