My Students

In today's world, technology is everywhere. Children have cell phones, IM friends, and update their Facebook accounts from home. Yet, in school the computer labs are still the single place where students interact with technology. I want to change that by bringing tablets to students.

My class is a group of students who are quick to learn how to do a PowerPoint presentation, eager to learn about their world, and excited about learning something new.

However, when they are doing a project, they are limited to a poster board display. Today's students need to have better choices available to them.

My Project

I want my students to use technology in small groups in the classroom. This could mean using a tablet to practice math facts, learn about constellations, or explore Latin roots. By having the tablet in the classroom, I wouldn't have to find an adult to take a group to the lab. Students can use the tablet within the class as easily as a dictionary.

Today's children are more tech savvy than we can possibly imagine.

They are ahead of our "computer teachers" and will disengage from learning if they are not pulled in my new resources and technologies.
