Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first grade students are working on their comprehension skills during story time on the carpet. We will use these hands-on story props to retell the stories and then use the scissors to make text-to-self connections. We will use the pocket charts to post our important vocabulary words in reading, science, math and social studies.

These story prop visuals are so beneficial for my English language learners as they continue to develop their reading skills.

I am so excited for them to make connections to the story we are reading and get experience using our vocabulary words.

By illustrating the story and creating a project the students will gain a deeper connection to the text. The craft scissors will help make their work visually interesting while being fun for the first graders to use as well.
