Learning is not always a priority of my students. All of my students come from very different home lives and school is an escape from the craziness of life sometimes. It is my goal to make school a place they like and want to come.
Our school has a very high population of lower income families.
We actually serve breakfast and lunch to every student in the district at no charge to the families. Additionally we have an outside organization that provides food to take home over the weekend to many of our students. Home life can be hard for many of our students so we try to help out.
My Project
Learning need to be fun for students. Critical thinking and logic is such an important skill that we need to be teaching students at a young age. My students need some games that they can use during recess and when they finish assignments early that will foster that critical thinking and logic. Some of the fun logic games are ones you might have even hear of before like Mancala, Rush Hour, or Mastermind. Kids can in enjoy fun games and still grow their logic skills and critical thinking.
I am asking for a variety of board games and hands on activities that will allow my students to use their critical thinking and logic skills to be successful while playing.
I plan to allow students to explore and play these hands on things when we have extra time in class. Inside recess is another time that I am hoping to engage the students in learning without them even realizing. It is my goal to make learning fun but also foster the critical thinking and logic skills in my students.
