My Students

My students are risers!

My students have shown that with the right tools they can exceed any expectations placed on them.

My students most often come from backgrounds where their parents have not completed a university education or even their secondary education. I strongly believe that this does not reflect our hopes or values but rather an unfortunate lack of historic opportunity. My students are aspiring to be leaders of their tribe and community, they understand that the future of their people relies upon their success.

With the chance they will lift us all to new heights.

My Project

Today I learned that our schools will be closed for the remainder of the academic school year due to COVID-19 precautions. My students and their parents are committed to continuing their learning during this difficult time. Motivation is not a barrier. Moreover, we are fortunate that due to tribally provided digital services and several promising local initiatives to expand internet access that this also does not present an obstacle.

We are, however, in need of devices as a large majority of our students do not have computers at home.

During this critical period of my students education even two months of loss instruction can make a crucial difference in their future success. Computers can provide a vital lifeline to their on going academic development.
