My seventh graders this school year are a truly unique group of students. They come from a very diverse community. I have students that reside in urban communities to very rural areas of our county. My students come from different cultures & heritages, ranging from Mexican heritage, to Central American, South American, Chinese, African and European heritage.
With a wealth of cultural knowledge within their family background, my students are ready to succeed in their world history class, they just need your support.
For one week, every school year, students in 7th Grade live in Medieval Europe. Each student in 7th grade is given a societal role to fulfill for one week. Most students become peasants. Some students become monks or knights. A couple of students become nobles and a select few become kings and queens. Over the years, I have purchased costumes and items to help students immerse themselves into Medieval Europe. We need more costumes.
Students learn history by living history.
This is the goal of the Medieval Europe Week Project. I want students to learn history by living history just like people did hundreds of years ago.
