My Project

Reading is a fundamental skill and a love of reading is a passion that must be nurtured. At Weed High, we are committed to fostering and nurturing this passion in our students. Our library has suffered some losses over the last decade and I am on a mission to build it back up. I am working to provide students with classic and contemporary literature along with high-interest magazines to entice them into reading. The books I have chosen are just the start of what I hope to add to our collection. These books represent an attempt to add diversity to our library while updating topic matter. Students use our library every day as a place to study and complete college courses, but they aren't checking out books. My goal is to change that. These books will be used year after year which makes them a great investment. Right now our student population hovers around 200 next year we will be adding 50-100 more kids, with only 30-40 graduating this year. As our numbers continue to increase these books will be inspiring more kids year after year.
