Help me give my students The book "The Hate U Give" to help engage in meaningful and purposeful dialogue about the world around them, while cultivating a love of reading.

My students are an imaginative, thoughtful, group of 8th graders who love to engage in meaningful dialogue about the world around them.
Despite the everyday trials my students face, they show up everyday with the eagerness and willingness to learn.
They constantly defy every obstacle that is placed in front of them, with smiles on their faces. When presented with an obstacle they use their resources and each other to overcome. They are truly the most dedicated group of students I have ever taught and I am very proud to be their teacher.
The book the "Hate U Give" is a book that I believe everyone should read in the 21st century. This book will instill in my students a love of learning and reading.
This will be the first book study many of my students have done in a Social Studies class, and be able to relate it to our theme of "Trials through Triumph" a 21st century look at Social Justice.
Many of my students and their families resemble the characters in the book, and also face the trials that the main character faces throughout the book.
As a class my students will discuss deeper issues around race, culture, injustice, and activism, as these are all tied into American History in all aspects.
