The book the "Hate U Give" is a book that I believe everyone should read in the 21st century. This book will instill in my students a love of learning and reading. This will be the first book study many of my students have done in a Social Studies class, and be able to relate it to our theme of "Trials through Triumph" a 21st century look at Social Justice. Many of my students and their families resemble the characters in the book, and also face the trials that the main character faces throughout the book. As a class my students will discuss deeper issues around race, culture, injustice, and activism, as these are all tied into American History in all aspects.
