My culturally diverse students attend a Title I school and do not have many opportunities to participate in extra curricular activities outside of the school day. Throughout the course of the year I try to expose them to a wide variety of activities to promote healthy and active lifestyles. Due to budget cuts, resources and funding are non existent. My students would be extremely appreciative of any help we will receive to help better our understanding of the performing arts.
My Project
I am so excited to introduce the game of Lacrosse to my students! Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the state of North Carolina. Year after year youth programs are being created to help children learn a new sport and create a solid foundation for the future of our college athletes. My hope is to introduce the basic skills of lacrosse and spark an interest for my students to continue playing year round. Introducing my students to the game will help grow the sport in our county and state. Through lacrosse, I will implement life lessons, help nurture positive character traits, and develop leadership skills. I will enable my students to apply the skills they learn on and off the field.
