My students need an Apple iPad Mini, Osmo Genius Kit, Osmo Creative Kit and Pizza Co. Games add on to provide unlimited opportunities to excel in science, math, reading, and writing.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students arrive at school every day energetic and excited about learning. Since our school is an inner city, neighborhood school with most of the families living below the poverty line (100% free/reduced lunch), our students don't get a chance to experience much technological learning at home. Whenever I can offer them an experience on one of our classroom computers, they can't get enough. As the students gain knowledge through the academic content areas, my wish is that their technology capabilities match this growth.
The challenge that my students face coming into the classroom is the lack of materials and technology available at home, as they are learning to navigate a modern world.
My Project
An iPad mini and Osmo Genius Kit are perfect for my students to gain more knowledge in content areas but also opportunities to practice their social skills through collaboration with other peers. The Osmo Pizza Co. and Creative Kit featuring Monster Kit encourage math, creativity, and imagination which is very critical to learning.
So often, due to the technology resources available to our low-income families such as access and budget, students can often fall behind the digital curve.
This project would allow my students to increase their opportunities to have more hands-on experiences in science, reading, and math through technology. We are living in a digital world and the experiences the students have at school will prepare them.
