Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are naturally curious, imaginative, and eager to explore the world around them. They find joy in simple discoveries like searching for bugs during outdoor play, observing flowers and plants, and asking endless “why” questions about how things work. What makes my students special is their sense of wonder and their willingness to learn through hands-on exploration and play. Many of them thrive when they can touch, investigate, build, and collaborate with their peers. By creating meaningful opportunities for discovery, I can nurture their creativity, confidence, and critical thinking skills while helping them develop a lifelong love of learning and science.

The goal of this project is to create an engaging science exploration area where students can investigate the natural world through observation, experimentation, and inquiry-based learning.

The materials in this project will strengthen foundational science and math skills while also supporting language development, collaboration, and fine motor growth. Tools such as the jumbo test tubes, funnels, eyedroppers, graduated cylinders, and measuring flasks will allow students to pour, compare, measure, and experiment during sensory play and science investigations.

The Kaplan specimen stones, life cycle puzzles, microscope, and science-themed books will bring my students’ outdoor curiosities into the classroom and deepen their understanding of the natural world. Students will use the specimen stones and microscope to closely examine bugs, fossils, sea creatures, plants, and other natural materials while practicing observation and discussion skills. The butterfly, moth, and honey bee life cycle puzzles will help students understand growth and change in living things through interactive play. The books will support our science investigations by building vocabulary, inspiring curiosity, and helping students make connections between literacy and hands-on exploration as they begin to see themselves as young scientists.
