Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine yourself learning the English language for the first time and not being able to comprehend completely everything being taught and the only thing you wished for were visuals and hands on activities.

My students are kindergarten English Learners in a Title 1 school.

Many are limited in the English language and are very eager to learn! Even though they take on each lesson with genuine excitement and ambition, the reality is that many of them come from families with limited resources to practice writing and reading skills at home.

My Project

Having a word building activity and phonemic awareness center will positively impact their learning experience. Students will learn the value of independent and collaborative study while engaging in active, task-based learning and self-discovery centers composed of writing boards, alphabet and phonics stamps, write and wipe pocket charts, art supplies, a math calendar, and a stereo for a listening center.

In today's economy, we are faced with diminishing resources and larger class sizes.

With your help,the literacy and listening centers will not only help these little scholars acquire skills needed to read and write but will also help them shape their character by developing social skills,increasing their self confidence, and being able to collaborate in small groups.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
