Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 1st grade class is comprised of 25 students. They are a diverse group of students with various academic and social needs. For example, I have a few students who receive speech, academic intervention services, live in shelters, or go to after school programs because their parents can't help them with homework.
As their teacher, I want my students to enjoy learning and strive to be anything they want to be.
These 5-6 year olds are eager to soak up learning. They have the, "I think I can attitude." Do you remember the book, The Little Engine that Could? I'd love for my class to say, "I knew I could," at the end of the year.
My Project
My first grade class library needs an update. I have twenty-five students who love reading all sorts of books that they can get their hands on. They love shopping for books each week to help them practice their reading.
These "little readers" would love new books.
My class is comprised of students who read on different levels. This project is asking for a range of books from levels c through f. This new library would help each student practice their reading skills and build their comprehension while enjoying good literature. As the students go up the levels, it also prepares them for a successful second grade start.
