Little Readers & Little Activists Can Change the World

Help me give my students books that inspire them to become young activists who can make a difference in the world.

My Students

Our elementary school has a diverse group of learners from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Each one of our students in pre-k through fifth grade offers something special to our school community.

Our students are thoughtful, curious, creative and always asking questions!

They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to explore and find answers to their questions. They come to school each day ready to learn, try new things and take chances in order to grow both personally and academically.

The students are all unique and have so much to offer to our learning community. Our students are always willing to collaborate with others and help a friend in need.

My Project

Our students are always eager to learn and are constantly asking questions. Most recently, my students have been very interested in biographies. As I was searching the library shelves for some biographies of young activists, I noticed that much of what I found was outdated. This project will help to get current biographies onto the shelves and get our students learning.

Our eager students deserve books that talk about current leaders and activists encouraging them to stand up for what they believe in.

I want our students to learn that changes can be made no matter how small and simple they start out. I want to inspire my students to go after their goals and to not let any obstacles stand in their way. As Greta Thunberg stated, "I have learned you are never too small to make a difference." I want my students to learn from others that have fought for what they believe in and know that you can fulfill anything you set your mind to.
