My students need some new exciting musical instruments. I chose Instruments Around the World Collection hoping my students will hear familiar music from home and learn to love music from around the world.
Many of my students enter my Head Start preK class not ever been exposed to any type of classroom setting. Their parents are immigrants, single mothers, teen parents, survivors of domestic violence, low income working families, and children who live under extreme poverty conditions.
My students are innocent blank canvases waiting to soak up the colors of the world.
I am here to launch each one of my students on the path to school success!! Through play, my students learn skills that help them be prepared emotionally, socially and academically for kindergarten.
My Project
Music ignites all areas of child development and the skills needed for school readiness. Listening to CDs and using the Instruments from Around the World collection will broaden my students' awareness of the variety of music.
Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn sounds and meanings of words.
These instruments will be used to incorporate phonological awareness into music such as tapping out syllables on a drum and counting how many shakes with the egg shakers as well.
Having easy access to these instruments in the storage shelf, my students will be able to enjoy music throughout the day.
