This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are little gems, who are curious and motivated when it comes to learning experiences. Due to the pandemic, my students haven't had opportunities to touch, count, and manipulate items to gain a deep mathematical understanding of numbers and concepts. They crave opportunities for hands-on learning as they struggled through online learning in their most critical years.
Young students need to count and organize objects daily in order to gain rich understanding and make deep connections that will serve as a base for all mathematical learning in the future.
With these materials, I will be able to create a school-wide system of Counting Collections that will benefit all students at my school as well as build positive math identities and create a love of learning mathematics!
