Our school pride's itself on making sure that our school is safe, comfortable, welcoming, and prepared for any possible emergency. After conducting an inventory of our emergency bin, we realized we were missing some key items. Although we have buckets to serve as temporary toilets, we didn't have anything to give students privacy. Having the pop-up privacy pods is going to be really important so that students will have a place to use the restroom in private in case of an emergency.\r\n\r\nWe also wanted to make sure that our staff all had safety vests so they can be identified easily by children in case of an emergency. The staff wear the safety vests when they are on recess and lunch duty, so students can find an adult quickly if needed.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping to make our school an even safer place to learn and grow. The class set of headphones has made a huge difference during i-Ready time, allowing students to focus on their personalized reading and math lessons without distractions. They are able to hear instructions clearly, work independently, and stay engaged in their learning. The writing tablets have been a game-changer in small group instruction. Students are eager to write, erase, and try again, which has made phonics practice and sentence building feel fun instead of intimidating. During math time, the math cubes come out for hands-on games where students build numbers, model addition and subtraction, and work together to solve problems. On Fun Fridays, the puzzles have become a favorite choice, encouraging teamwork, problem-solving, and calm, joyful moments at the end of the week.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless. There were gasps, big smiles, and lots of \"Are these really for us?\" The headphones made them feel so grown-up, the writing tablets were immediately grabbed with excitement, and the math cubes turned math time into something they couldn't wait for. Even students who are usually hesitant to participate jumped right in.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our next steps are even more exciting. We are currently working on building complete sentences and explaining our thinking in math. With these resources, students will continue rotating through small groups where they practice writing, listening, and hands-on math skills at their own pace. These tools are helping them build independence, confidence, and a love for learning—and that is something they will carry with them far beyond first grade.
