My Students

My students are in a self-contained Autism classroom at a Title I school. Most students in my classroom come from low-income home. Grades 1-5 are represented in my classroom. My students follow the extended content standards. They receive all academic instruction in their self contained classroom. The majority of students in this classroom are non-verbal and struggle with communicating with peers and classroom staff.

Little Literacy Learners will give the students in my Autism classroom learning tools for beginning reading!

My Project

We are requesting learning materials to help with beginning reading in the areas of CVC words, sight words and sentence writing. My students with Autism struggle in literacy and tools that promote literacy skills will help me provide them with hands on visual activities to promote and encourage the love of reading and will give students opportunities to increase their independent reading and writing.

The Little Literacy Learners project will reach students with Autism and will give them visual learning tools to increase reading independence in the classroom.
