This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach Young Five's at Countryside Academy. This school is in Michigan. It has a 100% free and reduced lunch population. In my classroom this year I have numerous bilingual and special needs students. Every morning my students are coming down the halls filled with excitement! They can’t wait to enter the room and start our morning routine; feeding chickens, writing our names and earning pride tickets! My students can’t wait to start their day. They are eager to come in and start learning new things.
My Project
The listening center I chose will help my students become great listeners and instill the love of being read too. Every student in my class loves it when I read to them. It would be exciting for them to have a listening center so we could use some of our old books on tape. My students will have the opportunity to hold a classic book in their hands, turn actual pages and listen to classic stories. I believe that by bringing back classic stories in my classroom will help my students become lifelong readers and truly learn to love reading.
