Little Learners Need Listening Center!

My Students

Have you filled a bucket today? Have you done or said something to make another person happy? Fill my kindergarten students' buckets by donating to our literacy project! My twenty-nine kindergarten students are an eager, energetic, inquisitive group of young learners. I strive to nurture my students to become open-minded thinkers and explorers as well as lifelong readers.

My goal as a teacher is to foster inquiring, knowledgeable, and independent learners who make the world a better place!

With a differentiated listening center for daily use, my students will grow as readers.

My Project

My students need listening center materials to develop phonemic awareness and practice reading fluency. We respond to reading daily as an important piece of our emergent literacy skills. We need many types of texts to listen to for practice with different comprehension skills and strategies.

Having new texts that the students can listen to as an independent center will allow them to hear even more books read aloud to them each day, modeling fluency while also reinforcing print concepts and reading behaviors as they follow along with the books!

These new easy readers, ranging from pre-reading to end of first grade levels, will ensure that all students find the book that's just right for them! We also need a CD player, headphones and storage unit for our listening center.
