My students need a listening center and sight words to improve reading. They also need math games to practice mathematical concepts.

My Students
Kindergarten is where students' love of learning truly begins. It is in our classroom that we set the academic, social, and emotional building blocks for the rest of a child's learning career. We set high expectations for our Kindergartners, and challenge them everyday to do their best and succeed.
My scholars, as we call our students, are a high energy group of 4, 5, and 6-year-old Kindergartners.
Most of my students are classified as Special Education students and almost all live in poverty. They have hard home lives and school is really a refuge for them; a place they can feel safe and loved. A place that is consistent and meaningful and where they will be pushed to do their best, no matter their circumstances. We truly believe that ALL of our scholars have the capabilities to not only attend but also to graduate from college.
My Project
In a class of 30 Kindergartners, almost half of my scholars are in our Special Education program. For many of these students reading and math are truly difficult tasks for them and they are already getting frustrated. Many of my scholars are learning disabled and struggle with speech and language impairments. With the help of sight word and math games, they can begin to more easily practice basic language skills and mathematical concepts. With the use of a listening center, they can hear how letters and words should sound. Scholars can also use the listening center to listen to audio books that demonstrate what fluent reading sounds like.
Students are successful when they are confident about their abilities.
We set high expectations for our scholars and support them in their attempts to succeed. With the help of donations to our classroom, we can focus more on the students and their instructional needs rather than worry about where classroom materials for instruction will come from.
