Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, I am excited to be transitioning from teaching first grade to kindergarten! My new students are beginning an important stage of their educational journey, and I want to create a classroom where they feel safe, supported, and excited to learn each day.

Kindergarten students thrive in environments that are organized, engaging, and comforting.

A thoughtfully prepared classroom helps young learners build independence, focus during instruction, and develop positive social-emotional skills. I want my classroom to feel like a second home — a place where students can explore, collaborate, and grow with confidence.

This project includes necessities such as bulletin board paper and borders to create organized, visually engaging displays that celebrate student work and support learning throughout the year. A well-prepared classroom environment helps students feel comfortable and gives them visual supports they can rely on daily.

I am also requesting lap desks to provide flexible seating and workspace options for my kindergarteners. Young learners benefit from opportunities to move and work in different areas of the classroom while still having a stable surface for writing, drawing, and hands-on activities.

Additionally, a small rug for our classroom library will help create a cozy reading corner where students can develop a love for books and independent reading. Having a comfortable literacy space encourages students to slow down, relax, and enjoy stories during reading time.

As I begin this new chapter in kindergarten, these materials will help transform my classroom into a calm, engaging, and student-centered environment where children can learn and thrive.
