Little Hands-on Math

My Students

My school and students are as diverse both ethnically and linguistically as they come. The students come from all over the world; many of them are refugees. They are curious and hardworking students. As part of the Dual Language program, they are learning Spanish as their second or third language. They impress me on a daily basis with their enthusiasm, kindness, and work ethic.

Our dual-language program is full of learners eager to explore their world through hands-on, experiential learning.

My Project

My students engage in meaningful math activities during Math workshop time. We are looking for more engaging math games to engage these young learners in the news concepts we are teaching.

The students are already very independent during Math workshop and new highly engaging activities will keep them focused while practicing critical math skills that are necessary for their continued growth and success.

These specific math games with target areas of learning that students are struggling with such as place value and geometry. Students will be able to work in partners or triads to make the activities even deeper for students.
