Little Hands, LEGO Bricks, and Big STEM Focused Imaginations!
My students need STEM focused materials including, 3 Extra Large Box LEGO Creator Sets, LEGO Doors, Windows, and Roof tiles, a LEGO Wheels Set, and a Set of LEGO Plates to engineer creations.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are high energy, experience driven learners, that love to grow, learn, and play. My favorite thing about being a kindergarten teacher is seeing the spark and excitement students have about learning and growing every day. Learning is new. Learning is fun. Learning is cool.
Each day, 100% of my students receive free and reduced lunch due to the socioeconomic needs in our area.
My students come from diverse backgrounds. We are an inclusive classroom environment and many of our students have special needs or may speak English as their second language. All are part of our classroom family. Each student loves to learn and has their own unique interests that drives them to be the best learner they can be.
My Project
My project will focus on giving primary grade students (kindergarten and first graders) an opportunity to create, engineer, and explore through experimenting with hands on materials to create with their imaginations. Through the use of LEGO creation materials, Project Based Learning Instruction, and individualized supports for student needs our project is structured to be tailored to meet the needs of young scientists and engineers itching to "think outside the box" and create something unique and extraordinary, just like each of them.
Each student has an sense imagination and wonder, and with encouragement and support we can nurture the leaders of tomorrow.
Our project, Little Hands, LEGO Bricks, and STEM Focused Imaginations gives students the opportunity to literally grab learning with their hands, create, and run with ideas that their imaginations can come up with. With these materials, we can support and not limit student thinking and help them to be prepared for more challenges in science, technology, engineering, and math. Today, for students it's building with LEGO Bricks, with the right support, a little encouragement, and a spark of inspiration, a student's options are endless.
